Community Rules

Draft — not yet legally reviewed. This document describes how TrueCourse works, but a lawyer has not yet approved the wording. It is not final, and it will be finished before TrueCourse is published.

Why we have rules

TrueCourse is for people learning to fly, and some of them are under 18. These rules are part of our Terms of Service. They apply to everyone, in every message.

Don't

  • Send anything sexual to, or ask for anything sexual from, anyone under 18 or anyone the app treats as under 18. Don't try to move them to another app, or ask them to keep secrets.
  • Threaten anyone, or encourage anyone to hurt themselves.
  • Encourage suicide, self-harm or an eating disorder.
  • Attack anyone because of their race, religion, sex, sexual orientation, disability or gender reassignment.
  • Bully anyone.
  • Encourage dangerous stunts or challenges, or taking harmful substances.
  • Try to scam or cheat anyone.
  • Post anything else that is against the law, or anything for a banned (proscribed) organisation.

What we act on

We act on two things: anything illegal, and anything that puts a young person at risk. We may take it down, stop an account from sending messages, remove the account, or tell the police.

We don't settle disagreements between members and clubs. If you have a problem with a booking, money, or your training, talk to your club or school.

Between adults

If an adult says something you don't like, but it isn't against the law, block them. Blocking works straight away, and they aren't told. In a group chat, blocking someone hides their messages from you, and yours from them. If you don't want to be in a group any more, leave it.

If something is wrong

Use Report on the message, the conversation or the person's profile. We read every report ourselves.

If someone is in danger right now, call 999.

Childline: call 0800 1111 for free, any time of day or night, or chat online at childline.org.uk.

Worried about online sexual abuse, or the way someone has been talking to you online? You can report it to CEOP, part of the police, at ceop.police.uk.

Worried about a child? The NSPCC Helpline is 0808 800 5000, 10am to 4pm, Monday to Friday.
